He answered First, you are a Virginian, should be responsible for buissness, next I am repulsive, suspected, and disliked, reason number three, you are a ten times better essayist, Mr. Jefferson. When composing this report, they must be mindful so as not to do a couple of things. To start with, they didn't need this to seem like a resistance. They attempted to make it sound like it was a good and legitimized activity. The objective was to make this defiance an advocated demonstration. Defying a lord is seriose. So they must be cautious. Engaged In Process Of Continuous Learning †Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Examine About The Engaged In Process Of Continuous Learning? Answer: Introducation Intelligent practice is the capacity of a person to ponder their own activity with the goal that the individual in question can stay occupied with procedure of ceaseless learning. Such practice causes the attendant to give basic consideration to the useful qualities just as hypotheses which advises regular activities by the invigilating regarding the training brilliantly just as reflexively (Synder, 2014). It encourages the medical caretaker to stop and consider their own training, legitimate breaking down of the dynamic just as to draw on the hypotheses for relating it to the current information which thusly help in producing new thoughts and information (James, Blomberg and Kihlgren 2014). This makes the consideration of the patient much better bringing about high patient fulfillment. I am a nursing understudy and I was put under position in mental human services ward during my third year of that I can build up some close to home encounters and connection my hypothetical information with down to earth circumstances. In spite of the fact that I has no generalizations against psychological well-being patients yet the idea of taking care of forceful patients terrified me. I was constantly apprehensive that such patient could hurt me genuinely and how might I ensure myself in such circumstance. I was likewise uneasy about how psychological wellness patients have the propensity of self mischief in specific cases which could lead me to legitimate commitments. Anyway working in the ward, I got proposals from my seniors and I was step by step having the option to learn just as addition experience of how to deal with inconsequential issues with aptitude. I recall one such occurrence that occurred in the position months which helped me to defeat my dread and examine my nurs ing abilities to perform better whenever. A young lady named Sarah old enough 25 was admitted to the ward after she discovered her oblivious in her room and was brought to emergency clinic by her flat mate. It was discovered that she took medicine of blended medications and dosages and needed to murder herself. She was confronting separation of her folks and a similar time she was additionally having passionate unrest in her personal connection with her office partner. Be that as it may, earlier month she was determined to have bipolar confusion after she was having continuous upheaval and her animosity level expanded. Not long before the episode, her flat mate and she had intended to go for scuba plunging the end of the week and she was very energized and cheerful about it. The genuine reason behind the specific change in disposition for taking the endeavor of self destruction isn't known by the patients flat mate. After she was conceded, she was taken to the crisis office for flushing out the prescriptions by making channe ls, the patients stomach was siphoned out and enacted charcoal was given by mouth to ingest the medication. Appropriate prescription was given to her and when she was out of risk, she was moved to the psychological well-being office. I was selected as her nursing proficient. After a short time of rest, she woke up. I checked her heartbeats and her circulatory strain which was ordinary. I gave her the medicine which was endorsed to be taken before breakfast. We began a typical discussion and she was lining up with the discussion with grin and joy. I checked her history and saw that she was a bipolar issue. Out of nowhere, I got uneasy as I saw that has self hurt herself. My dread bunched in my mind and I couldn't pass judgment on circumstances appropriately. From her discussions, she revealed to me that she can't acknowledge the way that she was hospitalized as she would not like to be alive. She coercively expelled her saline cannels and needed to come up. In spite of the fact that I attempted my best to control her, she got forceful and needed to either hurt herself or me. She advised me to request that the specialist release her right away. I attempted to cause her to comprehend it isn't the correct time as she is delicate and needs care in the ward. Be that as it may, Accounting Nonetheless, I immediately expelled the sharp item away from the patient so she doesn't get extension to influence herself. I was frightened and couldn't comprehend what I ought to do so as to deal with the circumstance. I felt that I was trembling and my basic reasoning aptitudes have totally decreased when. I again caused her to comprehend that she needs care and consideration in a standard way as her wellbeing condition in not well. Her crucial signs should be checked each interim to guarantee that she is out of risk from the impacts of overdose of medications. In any case, she continued demanding and undermined me that on the off chance that I didn't mastermind her release, she will slaughter me or herself. Thinking about no chance to get round, I went to talk with the senior medical caretaker. Prior to going, I applied physical limitation on all her sheltered structure state of mind swings and to forestall herself structure self mischief. She was not having any desire to apply t he restriction yet evaluating the hazard with her bipl;ora issue I figured it would be best choice. The medical caretaker pioneer quickly went to the spot and opened her restrictions. She caused me to comprehend that exercising of the clinical self control can influence the confidence of the patient which may prompt wounds. This may disintegrate her condition more. A portion of the quick exercises that I could have taken during that time is evaluating the customers conduct and utilizing quiet and mitigating approach as opposed to utilizing power on the patient. I could have short and straightforward clarification or explanations as limited capacity as far as possible comprehension to little snippets of data. I ought not have contended with the patient and ought to have helped her to discharges her disturbance and rough practices with physical outlets particularly in a region of low incitement like utilizing of punch packs. After this, I ought to have diminished the natural upgrades with the goal that she can quiet down. She even expressed that that in boundaries, I could have compo und limitations like sedatives which would have in any event confined her creating of wounds which she got when she was attempting to make herself free structure the restrictions (DAmour et al. 2014). With the assistance of the senior attendant, I took in the expertise of guiding a powerless patient in a viable manner by utilizing the right tone and causing her to feel that she is with people who are her mates. Building up a sympathetic and empathic discussion at last quieted her and made her tranquil. Hence, with the assistance of the appearance in real life practice, I had the option to mirror the specific circumstance I was experiencing in the ward fundamentally because of absence of experience, over the top dread in exhausting circumstance, absence of legitimate basic deduction expertise at the correct second and furthermore moral problem about putting on limitation or not. I effectively beat my fear of dealing with forceful patients successfully which gave me certainty. With the assistance of the senior attendant, I grew more information about taking care of forceful patients in an increasingly orderly manner with appropriate mediations and subsequently handle them viably with better results. Data Analysis Research Report - Free Essay Example

Title of Assessment: Data Analysis Research Report Introduction The final examination is a critical assessment as it composes 60% of overall assessments in the course. It is therefore vital to determine which factor influences the exam performances of the students. The purpose of the research is to be able to determine if there are factors, among considered in this research, have an influence on studentsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ examination results. If findings are significant, it can be used to predict patterns of these factors and may be able to assist in structuring the course in a way that will allow students to achieve best possible outcomes. Method The sample for this study was 705 students who took BSB123 at Queensland University of Technology. Data collected on this research includes: gender, number of degrees, and their assessments results in BSB123. Summary charts of data collected are provided in the Appendix. All calculations and charts were done in Excel, to minimise human error. However, the research may provide limited information, as factors measured were limited. BSB123 Examination Results Count 705 Skewness 0.46042 Mean 28.51645 Mode 20. Variance 153.66785 Coefficient of Variation 0.43471 Standard Deviation 12.39628 Mean Deviation 10.14061 Minimum 5. Analysis Examination Results Figure 1. Descriptive Statistics Table (extract) Figure 2. Distribution of BSB123 Exam Results There is much information that can be gathered just by looking at the histogram. First, it shows how data are distributed. Second, the modal interval or most frequent marks the students received were 20-25. Last, it shows the shape of the data, which have a slight skew to the right. Figure 1, provides more detailed calculations for the data set. First, it shows that the mode is 20, which agrees to the histogram. Second, it provides the mean and median, which are 28.51645 and 26.5 respectively. This supports the histogram that there is a slight skew on the right, since mean is greater than the median but not by much. Meaning, most studentsà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ got marks below the median. However it is slightly pulled up by some higher marks, which makes the average slightly greater than the middle score. In this case, the data was checked for outliers to ensure that the mean was not abnormally affected by an extreme value. It was found out that the highest and lowest standard sc ores are 2.45908745 and -1.897056742 respectively. Neither of which is considered an outlier and therefore the mean is a reliable measure of central tendency. Lastly, Figure 1 gives us the Inter Quartile Range (IQR), which provides a robust measure of dispersion since it is not affected by outliers. Given that the IQR is 17.375, the data are quite dispersed since the IQR or middle 50% of the data is relatively small compared to the Range that is 54. In the following graphs, it will be explained whether there are any of the other factors collected have an influence over the exam results. A table of coefficient of correlation, and sample covariance is provided below and will be used to discuss the linear relationship between variates. Figure 3. Exam to Report Results Chart There is a positive relationship between the exam and report results as their covariance is 11.91386535. This means as the report results increases, the exam result increases too. However, the strength of the relationship should be considered, which is given by the coefficient of correlation. Given the coefficient of correlation is 0.292805681; it is considered a weak relationship since it belongs under 0 à ¢Ã¢â‚¬ °Ã‚ ¤ r lt; 0.3. This is easily seen in the graph. The data points are scattered away from the line of best fit, which shows there is a weak relationship between exam results and report results. Figure 5. Exam to Report Results à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å" Single Degree Concentrating on the exam and report results of single degree students, it can be analysed through the graph. It shows that there is also a positive relationship between the two results for both genders. Also, with the data points scattered, it can be analysed as a weak relationship for both genders. This is supported by their coefficient of correlation: 0.225212514 for females, 0.267650839 for males, and 0.245318119 for all single degree students. These are all considered weak relationship as it is also under 0 à ¢Ã¢â‚¬ °Ã‚ ¤ r à ¢Ã¢â‚¬ °Ã‚ ¤ 0.3. Figure 6. Exam to Report Results à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å" Double Degree It can be seen in the graph that there is a positive relationship as well. However, there is a recognisable difference between the slope of line of best fit of males and females. It is evident on their covariance: males have 9.04393424, while females have 12.69093497. This will also reflect on their coefficient of correlation in which females have 0.359306148, while males have 0.250645118. It shows that being a female doing a double degree have a higher relationship between their report and exam results. Although, it is still considered a moderate relationship as it belongs under 0.3 à ¢Ã¢â‚¬ °Ã‚ ¤ r à ¢Ã¢â‚¬ °Ã‚ ¤ 0.7. Exam to Quiz Results Figure 7. Exam to Quiz Results Chart As seen on the graph the quiz results and exam results have a positive linear relationship as the direction of the line of best fit is going upwards. This is also supported by the covariance 22.55628546. To determine the strength of this relationship, coefficient of correlation is calculated and given as 0.53645469. Although, this is the highest correlation so far, this is still considered as a moderate relationship. Following are the breakdown of relationship of exam and quiz results by number of degrees and gender. Figure 8. Exam to Quiz Results à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å" Single Degree As the graph shows, there is also a positive relationship between the results of students doing a single degree. It can also be seen that the linear relationship of males are steeper than females. This is reflected through their covariance with males as 27.02006961, and females as 16.30120052. Then use the coefficient of correlation to determine the strength of the relationship. Males have 0.583767491, and females have 0.425786454. Even though males have a higher coefficient of correlation, the relationship between the exam and quiz results of both genders are considered a moderate relationship. Figure 9. Exam to Quiz Results à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å" Double Degree From the graph, it can be said that there is a positive relationship between the quiz results and exam results of both genders doing double degree. To prove this, the sample covariance was given: males with 19.09510926, and females with 23.80332634. It is apparent that female covariance is greater than the male covariance. These values will give an indication that the coefficient of correlation of females would also be greater than of the malesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢. As calculated, females have 0.607654528, while males have 0.515221913. Although the coefficient of correlation for females is higher, both are still considered to have moderate relationship between their quiz and exam results. Conclusion In conclusion, both report and quiz results have a positive relationship with the exam results. However, the quiz results showed a stronger relationship to the exam results than the report results. The report results have a weak relationship with the exam results, with only the exception of females doing double degree having a moderate relationship between their results. Illusions and Realities in Ibsen’s Plays The Wild Duck...

Illusions and Realities in Ibsen’s Plays The Wild Duck and Ghosts In Ibsen’s The Wild Duck, illusions and reality are set into a conflict within the story of a son’s personal desire to confront idealism. Throughout much of the play, the son, Greger, argues the value of truth with the reluctant Dr. Relling. Relling insists on the importance of illusions, but fails to discourage Greger’s intentions and a play that begins as a comedy quickly turns into a tragedy because of these conflicts. At the heart of the illusions in this play are the ways that people assume many roles in a family, impersonating multiple ideals as ways for managing their relationships. This theme of impersonation is also developed in Ibsen’s Ghosts, where†¦show more content†¦Within the ordinary lives of the families in Ghosts and The Wild Duck are tales of infidelity, corruption, greed, lust, disease, and other afflictions that characterize family secrets. For example, in Ghosts, the mother, Mrs. Alving, reveals the ways she has protected he r son Oswald from the truths of her unhappy marriage. She tells her friend and priest, Manders, â€Å"†¦Yes, I was always swayed by duty and consideration for others; that was why I lied to my son, year in and year out. Oh, what a coward I have been† (315). Manders responds, â€Å"You have built up a happy illusion in your son’s mind, Mrs. Alving – and that is a thing you certainly ought not to undervalue,† (315) echoing Dr. Relling’s belief that illusions are sometimes more than a question of reality. In both plays, the deeper questions are about whose reality matters, and who may determine another person’s reality. Relling accuses Greger of having a plague of â€Å"†¦integrity-fever; and then -- whats worse -- you are always in a delirium of hero-worship; you must always have something to adore, outside yourself,† which Greger agrees to, without considering the consequences of this claim (297). In fact, Greger’s certainty about the dangers of illusions provokes the young Hedvig into an emotional despair, and she kills herself. The issues presented in this play are not about what is true, or false, but about the ways people build their lives on the past. Is Adhd over-Diagnosed Among School Children - 1409 Words

Is ADHD Over-diagnosed Among School Children? After reading the review, (Is ADHD over-diagnosed among school children?) by C. Collins, I am in agreement with T. E. Elder in that yes, ADHD is over-diagnosed. I chose to accompany the review by C. Collins with the article, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, which originated from the Facts on File; Issues and Controversies Database. After reading both the review and the article I highly believe that ADHD is definitely over-diagnosed. In the article, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, the disorder is defined, as well as the current treatment for the disorder which tends to be the drug Ritalin. While there are many other drugs available for treatment, Ritalin is the most†¦show more content†¦Parents and teachers have given up on these children and they have been the ones who drop out of school or end up in prison. It is thought that by diagnosing ADHD early and treating it properly, children who might not have had a chance to succeed can now be successful. The advocates for diagnosis of ADHD also point out that the treatment of ADHD with prescription drugs is actually very small and only one out of every three children diagnosed with ADHD is actually treated with prescription drugs (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, para. 45). The article concludes by stating that although most experts have varying ideas and on ADHD they are all in agreement that the disorder needs more research. As I stated previously, I do believe ADHD is over-diagnosed; however, I am in total disagreement with the critics who believe the disorder doesn’t exist at all. Their claim that in the past it was acceptable and expected of children to be hyperactive and rowdy just doesn’t hold water for me. In the past we did not have the knowledge that we do now and as a result children were not diagnosed and either struggled to succeed in school and life or didn’t succeed at all. I am in agreement that many parents, teachers and some experts use the diagnosis of ADHD as an easy answer and way to deal with difficult children. I feel that T. E. Elder also makes a very significant point that the age and maturity of children entering kindergarten alsoShow MoreRelatedOver-Diagnosis Of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.1273 Words   |  6 PagesOver-diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is one of the most commonly diagnosed mental disorder among children and adolescents (UCLA). Analysis Of Samuel Huntington s The Clash Of The...

Samuel Huntington, the author of the clash of the civilisations believes that the World will eventually divide in accordance with cultural lines, and not political lines. According to Huntington, â€Å"the thriving East Asian and Muslim societies will soon challenge Western dominance, and the United States being the World leader will need to reevaluate its policies on foreign invention and domestic immigration to remain a major player.† During the Cold War, the world was divided into the First, Second and Third Worlds. Huntington views these ties as insignificant now and states that the remaking of the World order will be based upon cultural similarity. The different thriving civilisations according to him today are the Western civilisation comprising of North America and Western Europe, the Muslim civilisation, the Orthodox Civilisation led by Russia, the Chinese civilisation, the Hindu civilisation, the Japanese civilisation, the Latin American civilisation and the African c ivilisation. Huntington’s proposition of the division of the World according to cultural lines has been backed by the use of various examples by him; examples of events that have taken place in the past. An example supporting Huntington’s notion would the breaking up of Yugoslavia into six independent states namely Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro. The Wife Of Bath Prologue And John Webster s The Duchess...

Stephanie Polkowski Dr. Finnlayson ENGL 311 11/24/14 Entertainment and education through the oppression of women finds a common place in Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Wife of Bath Prologue and John Webster’s The Duchess of Malfi. In both stories the audience is introduced to the idea of female independence and strength through a confident and skilled female character who envelops the knowledge required to subvert the standards of patriarchal and misogynistic society. While both women in the The Wife of Bath Prologue and The Duchess of Malfi are varied characters who (think they) exude authority and seem to be able to live outside the limitations of a patriarchal society, at a closer look it is obvious this is not the case. Chaucer and Webster have both developed a story that parallel the stereotypes of the misogynist political and social structure of the time. Furthermore, they have blended comedy and entertainment to create stories that are didactic in nature they reaffirm the stereotype of unruly widows and ultimately show t hat no good will come to women who attempt to live outside the structural confines of the patriarchal and misogynist structures of society. Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Wife of Bath Prologue is a text which employs the female voice through an exaggerated female narrator who believes her life experience provides her the authority necessary to weigh in on the conflict that is marriage and a woman’s role within that marriage. Upon further analysis one may argue that

Criminology Essays (1645 words) - Criminology, Criminal Justice

Criminology Criminology One of the biggest issues in America today is crime. It is a large problem that continues to erode our country economically as well as morally. Because of the vastness of the problem, many have speculated what the cause for crime may be in hopes that a solution will be found. Many believe that a bad family life, location of residence, and poverty hold a few of the answers to why an individual becomes involved in criminal activity. Crime has been a major problem addressed in every presidential campaign for about three decades. This is because the American people are sick of the ever growing problem and seem to be voting for whoever claims to do the most about it. Major criminal justice functions such as correctional facilities, the FBI, and the Judicial branch have all, according to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, had increasing budgets for the past 15 years. The problems persist and we still scream for more crime prevention. Why does America experience such problems? There are many theories. The theory that holds the most validity is that many criminals have had a bad family life in one way or another. They have had few positive role models while growing up. John J. Dilulio, Jr., a scholar on crime policy, summed it up in one of his articles: [b]ased on my own reading of these studies plus about fifteen years of observation and interviews inside scores of prisons all across the Shea 2 country, I would posit that the hair-trigger mentality, the gang-related behavior, and the murderous violence itself emerge from the same source, namely the simple fact that inner-city teenagers have had few, if any, adults in their lives who gave them unconditional love, taught them right from wrong, and reared them accordingly (6). Dilulio's article states that Seventy-five percent of the most violent incarcerated juveniles are children who were abused by a family member (6). Dilulio also went on to say that half of all youth in long-term juvenile facilities have had immediate family members incarcerated (6). Almost all other theories can relate to this one. If individuals grow up in an abusive home there is a greater chance that they will develop a defiant individualist character (Jankowski 23). The main authority figure or figures in their life have mistreated them, which leads the individuals to question everything that all authority figures say. This includes moral standards. Authority figures have not looked out for the individuals' best interests in the past so the individuals develop a mistrust of authority. They are not convinced that anybody besides themselves knows what's best for them. These individuals become self reliant at quiet an early age and decide for themselves what is right and what is wrong. They also learn how to think quite rationally so they can calculate what they are sure will be the best for themselves at that point in their life. They may have been brought up in a family that did teach them right from wrong, but because that family failed miserably in other ways, the individuals Shea 3 question the morals they were taught and may decide for their economic and social wellbeing that crime is the best route to take. Place of residence can also make a big difference in the degree that the individual becomes criminally involved when coupled with an abusive family history. If in the event that an individual does decide that crime is the best way for them to get ahead in life, it is a lot easier to get criminally involved in an area that possesses a high crime rate. The tricks of the trade, so to speak, are much more readily available in a city where most crime occurs than in a far off suburb. For example, even if one does figure out how to hot-wire a car on their own, where are they going to take it after the fact? The car is hot (it has either been reported stolen, or soon will be, to the police, who will put out an APB on the stolen car) so one doesn't have much time to get rid of it. The longer one is on the road, the higher their

A Crowded Shopping Centre Essays

A Crowded Shopping Centre Essays A Crowded Shopping Centre Essay A Crowded Shopping Centre Essay Then there were the pairs of housewives who were chiefly concerned with price. They could be seen making enquiries about prices and bargaining for better ones. Couples, young and old, sat eating fast food and talking in low voices. At every other corner, there was a small stand and a young enthusiastic sales person trying hard to attract the attention of the shoppers to the amazing prowess of some innovative product. Thought they were getting a good deal of attention judging by the crowds that mulled about the stands. Banners proclaiming huge discounts swayed about from the ceiling of the centre. It was still fairly early in the morning for people to be shopping but then of course, it was the season of sales. All over the tiny town, huge shops were holding sales. Almost everything could be got at a bargain. During the current period of unemployment and retrenchment, the sale was probably what many had looked forward to. Only then could they afford to buy that branded pair of shoes or that glittering diamond bracelet that was at other times, priced well beyond the average mans pocket. As sat and waited, I noticed that there were a fair number of security officers walking about. In particular, they lingered about the stretch of jewelry shops further down the centre. The centre held many different shops selling varieties of products that ranged from household stuff to branded, designer goods to exclusive jewelry. The shops were mainly situated on two sides of a sloping stretch of road. The road was closed for traffic to enable shop owners to walk about more comfortably and in safety. I perceived that there were crowds of people at the jewelry shops. Amidst the hustle and bustle, a man in dark glasses and dressed entirely in black stood by the side of a lamp-post, at the end of the raw of shops. Two security persons seemed to be in heated conservation with him. Then, almost casually, the security man produced some small bags from the inside of their shirts and quickly placed them into the hands of the man in black who quickly disappeared into the crowd. Sat there, deeply baffled. The crowd was lost in its affairs.

Spiritual Assessment Tools Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Spiritual Assessment Tools - Essay Example This research will begin with the statement that spirituality is an aspect of life that is related to holistic nursing in terms of beliefs and behaviors. Dossey gave an understanding of spirituality as that broad concept which takes into account values, rationale and meaning; one’s turns towards the human traits of personal sincerity, devotion, caring, understanding, empathy, and imagination; a graceful, dynamic poise allowing and creating body-mind-spirit restoration to health; and the existence of a quality of a higher authority, that guides mystical transcendence and personal spirit. On spirituality still, Pamela Reed adds to the definition that spirituality is entirely about expressions of developmental capacity for self-transcendence. Spirituality can be perceived as that very close affiliation that exists between an individual and a supreme being who is believed to be directing anyone’s beliefs and practices during the life time. Spiritual Assessment carried out b y medical practitioners is the fundamental process of gathering, analyzing and synthesizing salient data to be used for appropriately planning nursing care into multidimensional formulations that are capable of providing the basis for action decisions on medical administration. From the perspective of a holistic approach, it is well established that spiritual assessment is an action taken with the assumption that spiritual wishes have dedicated influences on all other factors of an individual’s life.... Below are discussions of two of these Spiritual Assessments Tools, and their effectiveness in terms of timing and use effectiveness (LaRocca-Pitts M., 2008). a) FICA FICA is a spiritual historical tool that was created by Dr. Christine Puchalski together with Daniel Sulmasy, Joan Teno and Dale Mathews in 1996 with the view of providing means through which clinicians could efficiently integrate the open-ended investigative questions checking into a standardized medical history and that which could be applied by health care professionals. This technique identifies key elements that a physician or clinician may be in need of to determine any patients’ spiritual belief in the medical settings. FICA, as a spiritual assessment tool, is based on four fundamental domains which are: the presence and recognitions of faith, belief, and their meaning to an individual; the importance of spirituality on one’s life and the immense influence that the belief system or values have on the individual’s spiritual community; and the timeless interventions to address such spiritual needs. FICA is mostly used because of its effectiveness and comprehensiveness in assessing varied spiritual dimensions as may be based on existing correlations with spiritual indicators; especially in the view of spiritual activities, alterations in spirituality, positive life changes, purpose, and hopefulness. It is able to offer provisional frameworks for clinicians to initiate discussions about those aspects deemed meaningful to patients, i.e. families, work, and faith. FICA provides information things that are supportive to patients, i.e. spiritual communities; and also gives information concerning spiritual beliefs that most likely affects health care decision

Human Right Law Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Human Right Law - Essay Example cember 2001 with a major focus on countering terrorism.2 By this, several provisions were made including ways of fighting terrorists and their schemes. Since the coming of the Anti-terrorism legislation however, there have been several public debates on the appropriateness of the law when viewed from the perspective of human rights infringement. This is because whereas some think it is appropriate that terrorist atrocities must be battled in any way possible, others argue that trampling on the human rights of innocent people to get the right thing done could be equally terrorising in nature.3 This paper therefore seeks to critically analyse the claim that the erosion of human rights through anti-terrorism schemes cannot be justified. The analysis is made from a legal perspective by reviewing legal principles, case law and statutes that help in understand the issues better. There is no denying the fact that the number one reason for any anti-terrorism campaign is to ensure the protection of the freedoms, liberties and fundamental human rights of people. This is because acts of terrorism always come with adverse effects on people and property that in the end impede the successful exercising of their civil freedoms, liberties and rights.4 By having anti-terrorism programmes and campaigns therefore, a very giant step is taken to ensuring some levels of fairness in society where abuses that happen as a result of terrorism can be confronted. Very unfortunately, studies have showed that anti-terrorism is more difficult and challenging to achieve than a single terrorist may get through with the launch of multiple acts of terror.5 This is because whereas terrorist attacks take place by people who are ready to loss their lives and the lives of others, those engaged in anti-terrorism, including counter-terrorism must be careful to ensure that innocent lives and property are protected. It has been for this reason that advocates for anti-terrorism have continued to use stiffer

Administrative Theories in Public Administration Essay Example for Free

Administrative Theories in Public Administration Essay I have never thought that administrative theories in Public Administration has been established back in 1800 with theorist who have discovered or developed and now has been part of the system of the Philippine government. The earliest contributors to our understanding of management theory included practicing managers as well as social scientist. More recent theorist has tended to be academic or management consultants. The early theorist can be divided into 2 main groups – the practicing managers such, as Taylors and Fayol and the social scientists, such as Mayo and Mc Gregor. Meet the Mr. Taylor, the theorist of Scientific Management. Frederick Winslow Taylor (1856-1915), one of the early practical manager-theorist, born in Boston, Massachusetts, spent the greater part of his life working on the problems of achieving greater efficiency on the shop-floor where he manages. The solution he came up with was based directly on his own experience at work, initially as a shop floor worker and later as a manager. He pioneers scientific management which includes: The systematic study of the relationships between and tasks to redesign the work for higher efficiency. Taylor sought to reduce the time a worker spent on each task by optimizing the way the task was done. Scientific Management Theory Organizations were seeking ways to better satisfy customer needs Machinery was changing the way goods were produced Managers had to increase the efficiency of the worker-task mix According to him, there are 4 Principles to increase efficiency that are: a. Study the way the job is performed now and determine new ways to do it. Gather detailed, time and motion information; try different methods to see which is best b. Codify the method into rules – Teach to all workers c. Select workers whose skills match the rules set in step2 d. Establish a fair level of performance and pay for higher performance – Workers should benefit from higher output But, Taylor recognizes that the measures he was proposing would appear to be more than just a new method – they would be revolutionary. He stated that the outset that â€Å"scientific management† would require a complete mental revolution on the part of management and workers. Henry Fayol (1841-1924) – father of modern management theory He divided industrial into 6 groups: technical, commercial, financial, security, accounting managerial And formulated the 14 Principles of management which we are using it every day in our daily activities, allow me to enumerate them and somehow expand a little. Division of Labor – allows for job specialization, Authority and responsibility – Fayol noted firms can have too much specialization leading to poor quality and worker involvement. Unity of command – employees should have one boss. Line of authority – a clear chain from top to bottom of the firm. Centralization – the degree to which authority rests at the very top. Unity of direction – one plan of action to guide the organization. Equity – treat all employees fairly in justice and respect. Order – each employee is put where they have the most value. Initiative – encourages innovation. Discipline – obedient, applied, respectful employees needed. Remuneration of Personnel – The payment system contributes to the success. Stability of nature – long term employment is important. General interest over personal interest – the organization takes precedence over the individual. Esprit de corps – share enthusiasm or devotion to the organization. I have added here some of the theorist I researched which I consider to be worth sharing. Mary Parker – an influential leader in early managerial theory. a. Suggested workers help in analyzing their jobs for improvements b. The worker knows the best way to improve the job c. If workers have the knowledge of the task, then they should control the task. The Hawthorne Studies It appears that the workers enjoyed the attention they received as part of the study and were more productive. Contingency Theory – Assumes there is no one best way to manage The environment impact the organization and managers must be flexible to react to environmental changes The way the organization is designed, control systems selected, depend on the environment Conclusion As management theories evolved in centuries, the principles and ideas were never changed yet it has been a guiding value to those who are in public nor private service and to those who are employed and business people. It’s amazing how they have passed on to many generations of people who wanted to learn and use the theories. The theories have been explicit in explanations and user-friendly, though there are theorists who have presented different thoughts on the earlier theorist but if we examine deeply, it’s all the same, only presented in different design. Before I end, I would just like to emphasize the last part of the theories because it speaks about our relationship with the environment and how we will relate environmental, Technological environments change rapidly so must managers.

The Scarlet Letter :: essays papers

The Scarlet Letter Nathaniel Hawthorne uses several different themes in his novel, The Scarlet Letter; one of the themes Hawthorne uses is sin. The Bible teaches that sin is bad and hated by God. The Bible also teaches that the greater the sin is, the greater the punishment is deserved. The characters deal with the sin of adultery. Hester Prynne, the adulteress while still being in wedlock with Roger Chillingworth; Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, the adulterer while still being a Reverend; and Roger Chillingworth, a man who lives only to seek revenge are the three characters that deal with this sin the most. Who commits the greater sin? Hester Prynne seems to be a person who can be trusted. Her husband, Roger Chillingworth [Prynne], sent her to New England to make a home for Roger’s return. Hester did get a home together. She lets her passion for Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, however, get in the way of what she really needed to be doing. Hester never lies about her sin with Dimmesdale, but she never fully comes out with the whole truth. â€Å"[The letter] is too deeply branded. Ye cannot take it off. And would that I might endure his agony, as well as mine!† (51) Hester does not want to put Dimmesdale in a worse situation than he already is in, so she never gives his name as her fellow-sinner. Instead, she carries the shame for the both of them. Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, a man of the cloth, lets his passion for Hester get in the way of his relationship with God. Dimmesdale wants to tell the townspeople that he is Hester’s fellow-sinner. Hester does not want him to because she does not want him to be shunned by his people. Not confessing causes his guilt to eat away at him. He tries to confess his sin to God, but never does. â€Å"[He is] kept silent by the very constitution of [his] nature...Guilty [is] as [he] may be, retaining, nevertheless, a zeal for God’s glory and man’s welfare, [he] shrinks from displaying [himself] black and filthy in the view of men...[he] goes about among [his] fellow-creatures looking pure as new-fallen snow while [his] heart [is] all speckled and spotted with iniquity of which [he] cannot rid [himself].† (101) Dimmesdale wants to reveal to his people his sin, but when he finally does, he dies shortly afterwards.

Graduation Speech Succeeding By Choice - 1297 Words

Succeeding By Choice When there is a lack of professors at a college or institution, many classes become over-capacitated. Some students find it very hard to completely understand what the professor is teaching because there are so many students in the class. For example, students could be disturbed by that one student always chomping on crunchy chips during the lesson, excessive gossiping from a group of students in the back of class, or maybe even by the way the teacher speaks or pronounces their words. Although an over capacitated class could be very disturbing, it is the student’s responsibility to find a way to intake all information needed to prepare for exams. There are many ways to prepare for an exam depending on how much time is spent studying, what area is used to study, and whether or not the student received the correct amount of sleep prior to the exam. The type of exam preparation that the college student uses depends on whether the student is over achieving, average, or carefree. T here are also many benefits and disadvantages that come along with being an over achieving, average, or carefree student. The over achiever prepares for exams by taking at least an hour out of their daily work to study for the exam weeks prior to the actual exam day. Studying weeks ahead allows the student to break down all information to completely understand it. Preparing individually assures that everything will be ready well in advance of the exam.
